The Forgotten
140 million children have lost one or both of their parents worldwide (UNICEF). In the US, one in five children will lose a loved one before the age of 18. Often, they are met with silence because people are afraid of saying the wrong things. As a result, they commonly face overwhelming loneliness and isolation, potentially leading to permanent trauma
Currently, families facing critical illness and loss do not have a lifeline. There simply isn't an all-in-one, easy-to-access hub for them to draw information or support from. Nurses and doctors stress this issue, emphasizing that they do not have the adequate resources to properly support their patients. School teachers and counselors echo the same sentiment regarding their students. Everyone is affected by grief at some point, so why isn't there an easy-to-access portal with the right tools?
